PortArrest® P-IV ESCO Mobile System
The PortArrest® P-IV ESCO system, also known as the MAAS (Mobile Aircraft Arresting System), is a self-contained, mobile system designed and manufactured by Curtiss-Wright Arresting Systems / ESCO to support rapid deployment and facilitate aircraft recovery on permanent or temporary runways. It was developed in response to the US Air Force MAAS program for which over 200 systems have been sold. It incorporates a BAK-12 energy absorber and can be configured as a cable, net, or combined system. Curtiss-Wright also provides specific training courses to help air forces develop their operational capability.
Mobile Runway Edge Sheaves (MRES)
A brand-new solution designed by Curtiss-Wright Arresting Systems / ESCO to reduce obstacles on the runway strip and improve flight safety, MRESs (Mobile Runway Edge Sheaves) supplement the mobility offered by the PortArrest®. They enable the PortArrest® to be set back by 50 to 325 feet from the runway edge, while still allowing aircraft to taxi.
Portable Arresting Solutions
When total mobility is not required, portable arresting solutions can be provided by Curtiss-Wright Arresting Systems / ESCO. These can be installed quickly, with a minimum of civil engineering work. They provide the same level of performance as a permanent system, while remaining easily movable.
